TurboTorch TBT0386-0112 Replacement Tip Brass S-3

The TurboTorch TBT0386-0112 is a replacement tip, S-3 type, brass.

The TurboTorch design is worth explaining because the name describes the mechanism.

A conventional torch tip mixes fuel and air and burns it in a plain flame. A swirl tip introduces the mixture with a spin, which does two things: it mixes fuel and air far more completely, and it holds the combustion in a tighter, more turbulent zone. Complete mixing means more of the fuel actually burns, and a concentrated burn means a hotter, more focused flame from the same gas.

The practical result is that an air-fuel torch with a swirl tip does work that would otherwise need oxy-acetylene — larger brazing joints, bigger copper, heavier sections — without the second cylinder, the second regulator, and the hazard that comes with them.

The S-series are the swirl tips, and the number is the size. Larger tips deliver more gas and more heat, and the correct tip is the one matched to the mass being heated: too small and the joint never reaches temperature because the metal is carrying heat away faster than the flame delivers it.

Note the gas type is not stated. Tips are gas-specific — acetylene and propane have different flame speeds, and the wrong tip is a flashback risk. Verify.
