The FyterTech NPSUSOCK34-12 is a set of NPS Essentials 3 inch x 4 ft universal sorbent socks, 12.5 gallon absorbency, grey, 12 per box.

Socks contain; pads absorb. That distinction is the most useful thing anyone can know about spill response, because the correct sequence follows directly from it: ring the spill first with socks, then absorb what is inside the ring with pads.

Doing it the other way round means chasing a spreading spill with pads while it heads for a drain — and a spill that reaches a drain stops being a housekeeping problem and becomes a reportable one.

The flexible tube form is what lets a sock follow a floor's contours, press into a corner, and seal against an uneven surface where a pad bridges and lets liquid under. They are also the standard way to permanently ring a machine or a drum, catching leaks before they travel anywhere.

Universal is the specification and grey is the identifier: white is oil only across this range. Universal sorbents take water-based liquids as well as hydrocarbons, which makes them the sensible stock for an interior floor where the liquid could be coolant, solvent, or something unlabelled.

The cost is water rejection — universal fills with rain outdoors. Marine and outdoor work need oil only.

Saturated sorbents are hazardous waste.
