ARCAIR AIR24084003C Electrodes

The ARCAIR AIR24084003C supplies Copperclad CutSkill air carbon-arc gouging electrodes in a 1/2" x 17" size, packaged 100 per pack.

This is the heavy end of the gouging electrode range. At 1/2" diameter the electrode carries substantial current and removes metal at a rate suited to production work rather than touch-up: heavy plate back-gouging, removal of large defective weld deposits, casting riser and gate removal, and dismantling and scrapping operations. The 17" length gives extended working time per rod before the stub is spent, which matters when an operator is gouging continuously and every electrode change is lost production time.

Air carbon-arc gouging uses the arc to melt metal and a compressed air stream, blown along the electrode, to expel it. Because the process is thermal rather than oxidising, it works on carbon steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals alike.

The copperclad construction carries current along the electrode's length and slows erosion of the carbon, which sustains higher amperage and holds a more consistent groove profile through the rod's life.
