The Mars M10403 is a 1/6 horsepower, 825 RPM, 208-230 volt motor for fan and blower applications in HVAC equipment.

The 825 RPM six-pole design is specified where a larger fan or blower is turned at lower speed, which reduces tip speed and therefore noise for a given airflow. It appears in condenser fans on quieter condensing units, in fan coil blowers, and in ventilation equipment installed near occupied space.

Because the driven component was selected for this speed, an 1075 RPM motor is not a substitute. Airflow through a fan scales directly with rotational speed, so the difference between 825 and 1075 RPM is roughly a thirty percent change in delivered air, which in a condensing unit means a substantial change in head pressure and in a fan coil means a substantial change in capacity.

Read the nameplate speed of the motor being replaced rather than assuming the more common value.
