Good quality and works well. A little pricey but worth it.

The Irwin IRW1905ZR is a pipe tap, NPT type, in 1/2 inch.
NPT is the specification and it is fundamentally different from a straight thread, which is where most confusion about pipe taps starts. NPT stands for National Pipe Taper, and the thread is tapered — it gets progressively smaller along its length. That taper is the sealing mechanism: as the fitting is threaded in, the flanks wedge together tighter and tighter, and the joint seals on the threads themselves rather than on a gasket or an O-ring.
The consequences are practical. An NPT tap cuts a tapered hole, so how deep you tap determines how far the fitting will thread in before it tightens. Tap too shallow and the fitting stands proud; tap too deep and it bottoms out loose. There is no adjusting afterward.
It also means a pipe tap requires substantially more torque than a straight tap of the same nominal size, because it is cutting an increasing engagement the whole way.
Thread sealant or PTFE tape is still normal practice on NPT joints despite the thread sealing — the taper seals mechanically, the sealant fills the helical leak path.
The 1/2 inch designation is a nominal pipe size, not a measured diameter. A 1/2 inch NPT thread is around 0.84 inch across.
Applications include plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, process piping, and machinery repair.
