CRC CRC03094 Lubricant 16 oz Black Aerosol Dry Film

The CRC03094 is a dry film lubricant in a 16 oz aerosol with a 10 oz net fill, supplied 1 each with 12 per case. It is a black liquid classified extremely flammable, with a flash point of -20.2 °F and a moderate evaporation rate.

Dry film is a different approach to lubrication, and the reason to choose it is contamination. A wet oil or grease film is an adhesive for dust, grit, sand, and fibre — in a dirty environment, a lubricated surface rapidly becomes a grinding paste, and the lubricant actively accelerates wear rather than preventing it. A dry film lubricant is applied wet, the carrier evaporates, and what remains is a solid, bonded, touch-dry film that lubricates without attracting anything.

That property makes dry film the specification for equipment in dusty, sandy, or fibrous environments: textile machinery, woodworking equipment, agricultural implements, foundry and quarry plant, and any conveyor running through a dusty process.

The carrier is what makes the film possible and also what makes the product hazardous. At a flash point of -20.2 °F, ignitable vapour is present at any realistic temperature, and it is heavier than air. Ignition sources must be eliminated and ventilation provided.

Allow the film to cure fully before returning equipment to service — the lubricant is not doing its job until the carrier has gone.

Applications include slides, guides, chains, hinges, and moving parts in dusty environments across manufacturing, agriculture, textiles, and woodworking.
