The Yellow Jacket 49967 is a four valve manifold with hoses for refrigeration and air conditioning service.

Beyond faster evacuation, the four valve configuration changes how a service procedure is sequenced.

With a two valve manifold, moving between evacuation and charging means disconnecting the vacuum pump from the centre port and connecting the refrigerant cylinder, which admits air into the hose and requires purging before charging can proceed. That purge releases refrigerant and, if done inadequately, introduces the air the evacuation was performed to remove.

A four valve manifold allows both the vacuum pump and the refrigerant source to remain connected throughout. Evacuation is completed, the pump is valved off, the vacuum is verified by isolation, and charging begins by opening the refrigerant valve, with no connection broken and no air admitted.

That sequence is both faster and technically better, and it is the principal reason experienced technicians move to four valve sets.

The larger evacuation ports also accept the 3/8 inch hoses that make deep evacuation practical.
