The Loctite LOC1329467 is Loctite 243 threadlocker, medium strength, oil resistant, 50 ml bottle, blue, 10 per box.

The oil resistance is the specification and it is the reason 243 exists alongside 242. Anaerobic threadlockers cure in the absence of air and the presence of metal ions, and traditional formulations need a clean, dry thread to do it. Fasteners as received are rarely clean — they arrive with a protective oil film, and a mechanic in the field is not degreasing every bolt.

Loctite 243 tolerates that. It cures on lightly oiled fasteners without cleaning, which turns a laboratory procedure into a workshop one. That is a genuine advance rather than a marketing distinction, and it is why 243 has largely replaced 242 in practice.

Blue is the colour code and it carries real meaning: blue is medium strength, meaning the fastener can be removed later with hand tools. Red threadlockers are high strength and generally require heat to disassemble. Choosing red where blue was wanted means cutting the bolt out later.

What a threadlocker does is fill the clearance between threads with a cured solid, which stops vibration from backing the fastener out and seals the joint against corrosion.
