Little Giant Condensate VCL-24ULS/115

Condensate pumps serve equipment beyond air conditioning, and the differences matter when selecting one.

High efficiency condensing furnaces and boilers produce condensate during heating operation, and that condensate is acidic. Combustion products contain compounds that form weak acids when they condense, and the resulting liquid attacks materials that handle cooling condensate without difficulty. Pumps used with condensing appliances must be constructed of materials suited to it, and many installations require neutralisation before discharge to drainage.

Confirming what the pump will serve before selecting it avoids fitting a comfort cooling pump to a condensing furnace, which is a common and predictable failure.
