Little Giant Condensate Pump VCMA-15UL Condensat

The Little Giant 554401 is a VCMA-15UL condensate removal pump for air conditioning, refrigeration, and dehumidification equipment.

Tank capacity affects how a pump behaves rather than how much water it can handle overall. A pump with a larger reservoir accumulates more condensate before the float triggers, so it runs less frequently and for longer each time. A smaller reservoir cycles more often.

Fewer, longer cycles are generally easier on the motor and the switch, since starting is where most wear occurs in a small motor and switch contacts erode at each operation.

Capacity also provides a buffer. If the pump fails, the reservoir holds a quantity of water before overflowing, and a larger reservoir gives more time before the safety switch trips or, in its absence, before water escapes.

Against this, a larger reservoir occupies more space, which matters where the pump must fit under an air handler or in a confined plant room.

The pump must be positioned so its inlet is below the equipment drain outlet, since condensate reaches the pump by gravity. A pump mounted too high will not fill regardless of its capability.
