Description
The IRW372810P5 is a WeldTec bi-metal reciprocating blade, 8 inch long, 10 TPI, .050 inch thick, supplied in a 5 pack.
Bi-metal is the construction and it is a genuine piece of engineering rather than a label. The blade body is a tough spring steel that flexes without snapping, and the teeth are a high speed steel edge welded to it. That combination resolves a real conflict: a hard tooth holds its edge but shatters, and a tough body survives flexing but will not hold a cutting edge. Bi-metal gets both — hard teeth on a body that bends.
For reciprocating saws that matters more than for any other blade type, because a recip saw blade is constantly flexed and frequently bent in use.
The 10 TPI count places this in the metal-cutting range. Tooth count follows the material: coarse teeth for wood, fine teeth for metal, and the governing rule is that at least three teeth should be in contact with the material at all times. Fewer than three and the blade grabs, hooks, and snaps.
The .050 inch thickness gives the blade body stiffness — thicker blades wander less and resist bending.
Applications include metal cutting, demolition, pipe and conduit, structural work, and general maintenance.
