Description
The DeWalt DEWDW3765H is a jig saw blade, 3 inch, 12 TPI, in trim and coping configuration, manufactured from HCS and supplied in a 5-pack.
The HCS designation is high carbon steel, and it is the correct material specification for this blade's purpose rather than a cost compromise. High carbon steel blades are flexible — they bend without snapping — which is exactly what coping requires. Coping means cutting along the contour of a moulding profile so one piece nests against another, and it is done by steering the blade through a curve. A rigid bi-metal blade resists that steering and fights the cut; an HCS blade follows it.
The trade-off is honest: HCS blades cut wood well and do not belong in metal.
The 12 TPI count is the finish specification. Tooth count and finish are directly related — more teeth per inch means more, smaller cuts and a cleaner edge, at the cost of cutting speed. At 12 TPI this blade is set toward finish, which is what trim work requires, since the cut edge is the visible one.
The 3 inch length suits the material thickness trim work involves without excess blade flexing below the workpiece.
Applications include trim and moulding, coping joints, skirting and architrave, cabinetry, and finish carpentry.
