The Hart & Cooley FPD3 14 050513 is an FPD3 series steel lay-in ceiling diffuser with a 14 inch round neck, finished in white, for a 24 by 24 inch T-bar grid module.

At 14 inches this is the largest neck in the FPD3 range, delivering the highest airflow the series provides through a single 24 by 24 inch outlet. It is specified where the number of available ceiling positions is limited relative to the load: large open areas, assembly and high occupancy spaces, and rooms with substantial equipment or solar gain.

A neck this size represents a large air volume through a fixed face area, and the performance consequences follow directly. Discharge velocity, throw, and generated sound are all at the upper end of the series. Each should be verified against published performance data for the actual design airflow, since a diffuser operating near the top of its range in a room with tight acoustic criteria or limited throw distance will be either audible or draughty, and frequently both.

Where the ceiling layout allows it, distributing the same total airflow across more diffusers with smaller necks generally yields a quieter and more evenly conditioned space.
