Description
The Gardner Bender GBE46-308MN is a DoubleLock cable tie, 8 inch x 0.17 inch, in natural nylon, supplied in a 1000-pack.
DoubleLock is the specification worth understanding. A conventional cable tie head uses a single pawl that engages the strap's serrations. That works, but it has a known failure mode: under vibration, temperature cycling, or sustained load, a single pawl can back off a tooth at a time, and the tie loosens. A double locking head engages the strap twice, which is what resists that creep.
For applications where a tie is expected to hold for years without being checked — inside a panel, behind a wall, on a machine that vibrates — the difference matters. For a tie being cut off next week, it does not.
Natural is undyed nylon and it is the indoor specification. Untreated nylon degrades under ultraviolet light, becoming brittle and eventually snapping, so anything exposed to sunlight requires the UV-stabilised black version instead.
At 8 inch length and 0.17 inch width, this is a light-to-medium tie for wire harnesses, conductor bundles, and general routing rather than heavy work.
The 1000-pack is a working quantity for a shop that ties in volume — panel builders, machine builders, and electrical contractors go through ties at a rate that makes small packs an irritation.
Applications include control panels, machine wiring, electrical installation, and OEM assembly.
