DiversiTech Service Chemical PROTREAT-151

The DiversiTech PROTREAT-151 is a condensate drain treatment product for controlling biological growth in drain systems.

Drain treatments are typically supplied as tablets, strips, or gels placed in the drain pan, where they dissolve gradually and release an agent that suppresses the microbial growth responsible for blockages.

The economics favour treatment strongly. A blocked drain that overflows into a finished ceiling produces water damage, remediation cost, and a customer relationship that may not recover. The treatment costs very little and takes a minute to place.

Placement matters for effectiveness. The product needs to sit where condensate flows over it, so that the agent is carried into the drain line where the biofilm forms. A tablet placed in a dry corner of the pan dissolves slowly and treats nothing.

Duration is the other consideration. Products are rated for a period, commonly a season, and a treatment placed at a spring service will be exhausted before the following one. Where a system runs year round, more frequent replacement is needed.

Treatment does not correct installation faults. A drain with inadequate slope, an undersized line, or a trap that is wrong for the pressure at the connection will block regardless.

Confirm the product suits the equipment and the pan material, place it where condensate flows, and note the replacement interval in the service record.
