The Yellow Jacket 78060 is a gas pressure test kit reading 0 to 35 inches of water column.

Gas pressure measurement is fundamental to commissioning and servicing any gas appliance, and two distinct pressures matter.

Inlet or supply pressure is measured upstream of the gas valve and confirms the supply is adequate. It must be within the range the appliance specifies, and critically it must be measured with the appliance running at full rate and with other gas appliances in the building also operating. A supply adequate for one appliance alone may fall below specification when several draw simultaneously, and the resulting underfiring is intermittent and difficult to diagnose afterwards.

Manifold pressure is measured downstream of the valve and determines the actual firing rate. It is set to the appliance's specification, which differs between natural gas and propane, and setting it by a generic figure rather than the appliance data produces an appliance that is over or underfired.

The inches of water column scale is the appropriate resolution for these measurements, since the pressures involved are small.
