The Yellow Jacket 22636 is a 3 foot red charging hose for high side service.

Short high side hoses have a specific advantage worth noting: they retain less liquid refrigerant when disconnected.

The high side of an operating system contains liquid refrigerant at condensing pressure, and a hose connected to it fills with that liquid. When the hose is disconnected, that liquid flashes to vapour, and a longer hose holds proportionally more.

This is both a loss and a hazard. Liquid refrigerant released against skin causes immediate freeze injury, and the volume expansion as liquid flashes to vapour is substantial in a confined space.

Recovering the hose contents before disconnection, or using low loss fittings that retain the charge in the hose, addresses both concerns.
