Uniweld Refrigerant Gauge High Side/Red Manifold

The Uniweld G29LD is a high side red refrigerant gauge for manifold service.

Individual gauge replacement is the economical response to a damaged gauge, and high side gauges are damaged more often than the numbers might suggest.

The usual cause is mechanical rather than pressure related. A manifold set is dropped, knocked against equipment, or thrown into a vehicle without protection, and the gauge movement is delicate enough that impact damages it.

The symptom is a gauge that no longer returns to zero, that sticks at certain points on its scale, or whose needle moves in a jerky rather than a smooth manner.

Some gauges permit a zero adjustment, which corrects a small offset. A gauge whose error varies across its scale, or which sticks, cannot be corrected and should be replaced.

Protecting the manifold in a case, and not allowing it to hang by its hoses, prevents most of this.

Verifying that gauges read zero at atmospheric pressure before each use takes a moment and catches problems before they affect a diagnosis.
