The Tweco TWE9425-1225 is a cable connector for 1/0 AWG to 3/0 AWG, single ball-point, female and male.

Single ball-point is the specification and it describes how the cable is gripped.

A ball-point connection uses a hardened ball driven against the cable strands by a screw. That concentrates the clamping force into a small area, which bites into the strands and makes a genuine mechanical and electrical connection — rather than a flat plate crushing the cable, which flattens the strands and can actually reduce contact.

The distinction between single and double ball-point is the number of those contacts. More is a better grip at the cost of size and cost, and for a given cable range one may be sufficient.

The thing that makes any of it work is tightness, and it is worth being direct: a welding cable connector carries the machine's full output, and a loose connection is a resistance in that circuit. Resistance times hundreds of amps is heat, right at the joint. The heat oxidises the contact surface, oxidation raises resistance, and the joint gets hotter. It runs away.

A connector that is warm after a shift is a connector that needs attention. One that is hot is one that is failing.

Check them. Nobody does, and they are the most common source of mysterious poor arcs.

The 1/0 to 3/0 range is a hard fitment limit.
