Description
The Sterno STR20660 is a chafing fuel, methanol, 6.84 oz can, 2-hour burn, food service grade, 24 per carton.
Note a contradiction in the source: the item is named a handy wick and the physical form field says gel. Those are different products. A wick fuel holds liquid methanol in an absorbent body and burns from a controlled wick; a gel fuel is a thickened methanol that burns from an open surface. They behave differently, they are held in the frame differently, and a caterer choosing between them is choosing on exactly this. Resolve it before publishing.
The 2-hour burn is the short duration in this range and it has a specific use: a short service, a single seating, or a station that only needs heat for part of an event.
Buying short and topping up is not the alternative it appears to be. Adding fuel to a hot unit and moving a lit can are the two things that cause burns in food service, and a can that runs out mid-service is what makes staff do them.
The methanol point applies to every fuel here: the flame is nearly invisible in daylight. A burning can looks exactly like a cold one, and people reach into it. Assume lit. Extinguish with the lid.
