The Shook 11268 is a 500 piece box of number 10 by 3/4 inch Driltip self drilling screws for sheet metal fastening.

Working overhead is the condition under which sheet metal fastening is most often done and the one that causes most difficulty, and a few practices make it manageable.

Eye protection is not negotiable. Drilling overhead sends swarf downward, and self drilling screws produce fine, sharp metal chips that travel straight toward the face. Eye injuries from this are common and entirely preventable.

Swarf also lands on skin and in clothing, and hot chips from a screw driven at speed can cause burns. Long sleeves and a collar closed at the neck help considerably.

Positioning matters for the quality of the work as well as for safety. A screw driven overhead at an awkward angle drills an elongated hole and seats unevenly. Getting the driver square to the work, which usually means repositioning the ladder or platform rather than reaching, produces better results and fewer failed fasteners.

Fatigue is a real factor on overhead work, and fastener quality degrades noticeably as an operator tires.

Confirm gauge, length, point capacity, head style, and finish against the material. Wear eye protection whenever drilling or driving overhead, and set the driver clutch to stop at seating.
