DiversiTech Draft Inducer Goodm 48331

The DiversiTech 48331 is a draft inducer assembly supplied as a replacement for Goodman brand gas furnaces, comprising the inducer motor and housing as a complete unit.

The draft inducer is the fan that pulls combustion products through the heat exchanger and out through the vent. Its operation is proved by a pressure switch before the ignition sequence is permitted to continue, which makes it a safety-critical component rather than simply an air mover. A furnace with a failed or weak inducer will lock out rather than fire, and that is the intended behaviour.

Because the pressure switch is calibrated to the airflow the original inducer produces, replacement assemblies must match the specification. An inducer that turns but produces insufficient draft will fail to close the pressure switch, or will close it marginally and drop out intermittently during operation.

Supplying the motor and housing together removes the fitment uncertainty involved in matching a bare motor to an existing wheel and housing.

Confirm the furnace model and serial number against the manufacturer's parts listing before ordering. Inspect the vent system, the pressure switch tubing, and the condensate drain during replacement, since blockages in any of them produce symptoms identical to inducer failure.
