The Moldex MOX7200 is a reusable acid gas cartridge, 7000 series, black, 60 month shelf life, PVC free, 1 pair per bag.

Note a discrepancy worth resolving: the source lists the colour as black. Under the OSHA and ANSI cartridge colour code, acid gas cartridges are identified white — black designates organic vapour. Respirator cartridge colour is a safety identification system, not decoration, and a wearer reaching for a cartridge in a hurry reads the colour. Verify whether this refers to the cartridge body moulding or to the code marking before publishing.

Acid gas cartridges address chlorine, hydrogen chloride, sulphur dioxide, and similar gases by chemical absorption rather than by filtration. The sorbent bed has a finite capacity, and this is the point that matters most: it fills up, and when it is full the gas passes straight through.

There is no gauge. Which is why change-out schedules exist, and why they must be calculated from the exposure rather than guessed. Waiting to smell something is not a schedule — some gases have poor warning properties, and by the time a wearer detects breakthrough they have been exposed.

The 60 month shelf life applies to unopened cartridges. Once a cartridge is opened it begins absorbing from the air around it, whether it is being worn or not.

Cartridges only work in a respirator that seals. Fit testing governs everything.
