FR fabric rather than leather is the specification and it is a real fork in the range. Leather welding jackets take heavy spatter and radiant heat and last for years; they are also hot, heavy, and stiff, and welders working in them all day in summer suffer.

FR fabric is lighter, cooler, and far more comfortable. What it gives up is resistance to heavy spatter — a fabric jacket is for MIG, TIG, light stick, and general shop work rather than for standing under an overhead weld with slag falling.

Choosing on the process rather than on price is the correct approach, and both belong in a range.

The mechanism matters: FR fabric does not sustain combustion. Exposed to flame it chars and self-extinguishes rather than burning and melting. That distinction is the whole point — untreated synthetics melt onto skin, and ordinary cotton simply burns.

At 30 inches this is a full-length jacket, covering to mid-thigh.

The inside pocket is a small feature with a purpose: an outside pocket on a welding jacket is a slag trap. Spatter lands in it and sits against the wearer.

Launder per the manufacturer's instructions — improper washing degrades FR performance.

Applications include MIG and TIG welding, grinding, and general fabrication.
