The Fibre-Metal FIB110PWE is a Pipeliner welding helmet in fiberglass, white, with a 2 inch x 4-1/4 inch lens size. It includes a P247 shade 10 polycarbonate filter plate and a P242 CR-39 clear cover plate, with a rubber headband.

The Pipeliner is a specialist helmet and the small 2 x 4-1/4 inch lens is the entire design rather than a limitation. Pipeline welding happens inside ditches, against pipe, and in positions where a full-size helmet physically cannot fit — the shell hits the pipe before the welder's eye reaches the joint. A compact shell and small window let the welder get into the bell hole and see the weld.

The rubber headband is the other half of that specification. Pipeline welders work with their heads at angles a ratchet suspension will not hold, and a rubber strap grips and stays put where a rigid suspension shifts.

The fiberglass shell is the durable choice for the environment — it resists the heat and abuse of field welding better than a light thermoplastic.

The lens package is worth reading. The P247 shade 10 filter is the protective element; the P242 clear cover plate sits in front of it as a sacrificial layer, taking the spatter so the expensive filter does not. Cover plates are consumables and should be replaced when they cloud — welding through a pitted cover plate is how welders end up guessing.
