Mars High Pressure Switch 400/300 M43331

The Mars M43331 is a high pressure switch with an approximate 400 PSI cut-out and 300 PSI cut-in.

Compared with a wider differential control at the same cut-out, this switch resets sooner, permitting the compressor to restart at a higher pressure.

The choice between differentials reflects the application. Where a high pressure trip is expected to be genuinely transient, such as a system that occasionally reaches its limit on the hottest afternoons but is otherwise sound, a narrower differential returns the equipment to service promptly rather than leaving a building without cooling for an extended period.

Where a trip indicates something requiring attention, a wider differential or a manual reset is more appropriate.

Neither choice substitutes for diagnosis. A system reaching its high pressure cut-out during normal operation is operating at the edge of its envelope, and the reasons are worth establishing: a condenser that needs cleaning, a fan that is not delivering full airflow, a charge that has drifted high, or an installation whose condenser has insufficient clearance to reject heat.

Recording when trips occur, and under what ambient conditions, distinguishes a marginal system from a faulty one.

Applications include commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems.
