The Johnson Controls P100CP-1C is a pressure control with a cut-out of approximately 400 PSI and a cut-in of approximately 300 PSI, opening on a rise in pressure.

The specification stated in full, cut-out on rise at 400 with cut-in at 300, describes both operating points and makes the control's behaviour explicit.

Open on rise is the action of a high pressure control: contacts are closed in normal operation and open when pressure climbs to the cut-out. This is the opposite of a low pressure control, which opens on a fall.

Getting this the right way round matters at replacement, because a control with the wrong action will either hold the circuit open permanently or fail to provide protection at all.
