The JAZ JAZ78042 is a JAZ PRO stringer bead knot wire wheel, 4-1/2 inch, with 20 knots, .020 inch steel wire, 1/2 inch knot width, 5/8"-11 arbor, rated to 20,000 max RPM, supplied 10 wheels per box.

Two numbers here are worth reading against the rest of the JAZ range. The knot width is stated at 1/2 inch — that is the band the knots occupy, and it is the whole point of a stringer bead wheel. Half an inch is approximately a weld bead, which is why the wheel drives its energy into the joint rather than across the parent metal around it.

The 20,000 RPM rating is unusually high and it is the highest in this range by a wide margin — against 15,000 for the standard 4-1/2 inch wheels. That is a PRO-series specification and it means the wheel can be run on faster grinders that would over-speed a standard wheel. It does not mean it should be: the rating is a ceiling, and the grinder still governs.

The 20 knot count is lower than the 36 on the standard 4-1/2 inch wheels — fewer, in a narrower band, which concentrates the action further.

Steel wire means carbon steel only.

The 10-per-box case quantity suits production weld cleanup.
