The DeWalt DEWDW49157 is an XP carbon knot wire cup brush, 3 inch diameter with a 5/8"-11 arbor and .014 inch wire.

The .014 inch wire gauge is the specification that positions this brush, and it is finer than the .020 inch wire common on heavy-duty cup brushes. Wire gauge governs aggression directly: heavier wire hits harder and removes more, finer wire cuts less and leaves a better surface. At .014 this brush is set toward cleaning and surface preparation rather than heavy scale and slag removal — the choice when the objective is to clean the work without gouging it.

Knot construction twists the wire into rigid bundles that strike the surface rather than sweep it, so even at a finer gauge the brush removes rather than polishes. A crimped brush at the same gauge would do considerably less.

The 3 inch diameter is compact, suiting confined work, weld joints, corners, and detail areas where a 6 inch cup cannot reach or would be uncontrollable.

The 5/8"-11 arbor mounts directly to standard right angle grinders.
