The Jackson Safety JKS36307 is a Wilson See-Thru welding curtain, 8 ft wide, 0.014 inch thick, in transparent vinyl, orange.

A welding curtain and a welding blanket do different jobs, and confusing them is common. A blanket contains sparks and slag — it is a fire control. A curtain protects people: it screens the arc so that everyone else in the shop is not exposed to the ultraviolet radiation that causes arc eye.

Arc eye is the whole point. A welder is protected by their hood. The apprentice walking past, the fitter at the next bench, and the supervisor doing a walk-round are not, and UV from an arc reaches them across a room. Arc eye is a corneal burn that appears hours later, and casual bystander exposure is one of the most common causes.

See-Thru is the specification that makes the curtain workable rather than resented. An opaque screen means nobody can see in or out — supervision stops, awareness stops, and the screens end up dragged aside. A transparent curtain blocks the UV while leaving the shop visible.

Orange is the conventional tint. The colour is the filter.

At 0.014 inch this is curtain-weight vinyl rather than blanket fabric.
