The Jackson Safety JKS36305 is a Wilson welding blanket, 6 ft x 8 ft, 0.028 inch thick, in uncoated fiberglass, white.

The 6 x 8 ft size is the specification distinguishing this from the 6 x 6 blankets in the range, and the extra two feet is more useful than it sounds. A 6 x 6 blanket covers a work area; a 6 x 8 reaches — over a piece of plant, down a wall, across a wider gap, or with enough overlap to actually secure at the edges. Sparks find the gap, and a blanket that is exactly the size of the thing it is protecting has no margin.

Uncoated is the material specification and it is a deliberate choice. Coatings add spark resistance and stop the loose fibre shedding that makes bare fiberglass irritating to handle. But every coating has a temperature limit lower than the fiberglass beneath it, so for the hottest work the coating becomes the weak link. Uncoated fiberglass tolerates more heat, at the cost of handling comfort. Wear gloves.

At 0.028 inch this is a mid-weight fabric.
