Good product. Would have given five stars but the finish had a small mark.

The Jackson Safety JKS36293 is a Wilson welding blanket, 6 ft x 6 ft, 0.034 inch thick, in fiberglass with an acrylic coating, yellow.
At 0.034 inch this is the heaviest blanket in this group — against 0.028 for the uncoated versions — and weight in a welding blanket buys durability and resistance to burn-through. A blanket taking direct spatter and slag day after day has a service life, and a heavier fabric has more of it.
The acrylic coating is the other distinction. Coating adds spark resistance and binds the fabric so it sheds less loose fibre, which makes it far more pleasant to handle than bare fiberglass. The trade is temperature: the coating has a lower limit than the fiberglass substrate beneath it, so the hottest applications belong to uncoated blankets where the coating would be the weak link.
For general welding, cutting, and grinding — which is most work — the coated blanket is the better tool.
What a blanket does is contain sparks, spatter, and slag, and this is fire prevention rather than housekeeping. Hot metal from cutting travels much further than people expect and finds anything combustible in its path.
Yellow is the high-visibility colour — a blanket that can be seen is a blanket that gets used and gets picked up afterward.
Inspect before use; a burned-through blanket contains nothing.
