The Jackson Safety JKS36290 is a Wilson welding blanket, 6 ft x 6 ft, 0.028 inch thick, in uncoated fiberglass, white.

Uncoated is the specification and it is a real choice rather than a cheaper option. A coating adds spark resistance and, importantly, binds the fabric so it sheds less loose fibre. Bare fiberglass sheds, and fiberglass fibre on skin is genuinely irritating — anyone who has handled an uncoated blanket without gloves remembers it.

So why buy uncoated? Because coatings have temperature limits. An acrylic or silicone coating begins to break down above its rating, while the fiberglass substrate itself takes far more. For the hottest applications, uncoated fiberglass tolerates temperatures that would destroy the coating on a coated blanket. The coating becomes the weak link.

That makes this the blanket for higher-temperature work, at the cost of handling comfort. Wear gloves.

The 0.028 inch thickness is a mid-weight. A welding blanket's job is containing sparks, spatter, and slag — hot metal from cutting and grinding travels much further than people expect, and finds anything combustible. This is fire prevention equipment.

At 6 x 6 ft this is the standard square blanket size.
