The FAMCO WVEB6BK is a 6 inch wide mouth wall vent in black, providing a low resistance exterior termination for exhaust ductwork.

The wide mouth configuration addresses a specific problem with conventional louvered terminations: restriction. A standard louver assembly presents a free area considerably less than the duct's cross section, and that restriction consumes static pressure the fan needed for the duct run itself. On clothes dryer exhaust in particular, where manufacturers specify a maximum equivalent duct length and every fitting counts against it, a restrictive termination can push an otherwise acceptable installation past the limit.

A wide mouth termination presents a larger opening with a simple damper rather than a louver stack, preserving more of the fan's available pressure for moving air.

The configuration is particularly suited to dryer exhaust for a second reason: with no louvers or screen to catch lint, there is nothing for lint to accumulate on. Lint build-up at the termination is the usual cause of dryer ducts that progressively lose airflow, and it is both an efficiency problem and a recognised fire risk.

The black finish suits dark siding and trim.
