The 72-tooth ratchet mechanism is the specification that determines whether this set is usable in real work. Tooth count sets the arc a ratchet must swing before it engages the next tooth — 72 teeth means a five degree swing. In open space that is irrelevant. Against a firewall, inside a machine frame, or behind a bracket, the difference between a five degree arc and a fifteen degree arc decides whether the fastener can be turned at all.

The teardrop head is the corresponding design choice: a compact profile that fits into the same confined positions the fine-tooth mechanism is there to serve.
