Spectronics Leak Detector UV Dye Kit SPE-HVLEZE

The Spectronics SPE-HVLEZE is a complete ultraviolet dye leak detection kit.

A kit supplies the elements dye detection requires as a matched set: the ultraviolet lamp, the dye, the means of introducing it, and generally the UV enhancing glasses that make inspection effective.

Buying these together avoids the common situation where a technician has a lamp but no dye, or dye but no means of injecting it, and consequently falls back on methods that are less effective for the leak in front of them.

The kit format also encourages the method to be used. Dye detection requires a small amount of preparation, introducing the dye and allowing time for circulation, and methods requiring preparation tend to be neglected when the necessary items are scattered.

For difficult leaks the investment is justified. A system losing charge slowly, with no leak findable by electronic detection or by soap solution, is otherwise a recurring service call with no resolution, and each visit costs more than the kit.

Compatibility of the dye with the system's refrigerant and oil should be confirmed.
