Metal Zinc Heater Stands 30X6

The Metal Zinc 30X6 is a 30 by 30 inch equipment stand with a 6 inch height, elevating an appliance above the floor.

Appliance stands exist primarily to satisfy a specific safety requirement. Gas fired appliances installed in garages must have their ignition source elevated above the floor, because gasoline vapour is heavier than air and accumulates at floor level, where a burner or an ignition device would present an ignition risk. Codes specify a minimum elevation for this reason, and an appliance installed on the garage floor without a stand is a common inspection failure.

Stands serve secondary purposes as well. Elevating an appliance above the floor keeps its base clear of water in areas subject to flooding or wash-down, provides clearance for a drain pan beneath, improves access to lower connections and controls, and keeps the base out of contact with a concrete floor that would otherwise transfer moisture and accelerate corrosion.

At 6 inches, this stand provides a modest elevation appropriate where the code requirement is met at that height or where the purpose is water clearance and access rather than vapour separation.

The stand must be capable of carrying the appliance's operating weight, including the contents of a water heater tank, and must be installed level and on a sound floor.
