Mars Polarpad 30X30X3 Gray 94784

The Mars 94784 is a PolarPad equipment pad measuring 30 by 30 by 3 inches in grey, providing a base for outdoor condensing units and heat pumps.

The 30 inch square size covers the bulk of two to three ton residential condensing units and is among the most frequently stocked pad dimensions.

Grey finish is a practical rather than cosmetic consideration in one respect: a light coloured pad is less visually intrusive against concrete, gravel, and typical exterior finishes than a black pad, and remains cooler in direct summer sun, which matters where the pad is adjacent to a walkway or a planted area.

Pad selection should follow the actual equipment footprint with margin on each side rather than nominal capacity. Cabinet dimensions vary between manufacturers and have grown as efficiency requirements have increased coil area, so a changeout should be measured rather than assumed. Base rails overhanging the pad edge concentrate load, cause the pad to tip or settle unevenly, and take the unit out of level, which compromises compressor oil return.

Ground preparation is the determining factor for whether level is maintained. Excavate to firm subgrade, bed on compacted gravel across the full pad area, and verify level in both directions after the equipment is set.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing units, heat pumps, and ground mounted mechanical equipment.
