ECCO B-Vent Pipe 445EL 4X45 Double Wall 200413

The ECCO 200413 is a 4 inch, 45 degree double wall Type B vent elbow, used to offset a vent run around obstructions.

Offsets in a vent are sometimes unavoidable, but they carry a cost that is easy to underestimate. Every elbow adds resistance to the vent, and the vent tables in the fuel gas code account for this through limits on total lateral length and on the number of offsets permitted for a given vent height and appliance input. A run assembled with several elbows may be within the physical space available and still be outside what the vent sizing permits.

A 45 degree elbow is preferable to a 90 wherever the geometry allows. Two 45s used to step around an obstruction impose less resistance than a pair of 90s and present less obstruction to the flue gases, and the same reasoning that governs duct fitting selection applies here.

Vent runs should also rise continuously toward the termination wherever possible. Horizontal or downward sloping sections permit condensate to collect and flue products to stagnate.

Elbows join to adjacent sections with the same twist lock engagement as straight lengths, and the listed clearance to combustibles, commonly one inch for B vent, applies at elbows as it does elsewhere in the run.

Applications include residential and light commercial gas furnace, boiler, and water heater venting.
