DiversiTech Anchor Kit Blue #4 7103CX

The DiversiTech 7103CX is an anchor kit containing size four blue plastic anchors with matching screws, for light duty fastening into masonry and similar base materials.

Ribbed plastic anchors work by expansion. The anchor is inserted into a drilled hole, and driving the screw expands it against the hole wall so that friction and the ribs hold it in place.

They are appropriate for light loads only. Mounting a thermostat, a small junction box, a cable clip, a label plate, or a light bracket is within their capability. Supporting equipment, piping, or anything where failure would matter is not, and plastic anchors used beyond their capacity fail by pulling out.

Hole size is critical with plastic anchors, more so than with metal types. Too small and the anchor cannot be inserted without damage. Too large and the expansion is insufficient to grip, and the anchor spins in the hole as the screw is driven, at which point it is useless and difficult to remove.

The screw supplied with the kit is matched to the anchor. Substituting a different screw, particularly a smaller diameter one, gives less expansion and reduced holding.

Kits are convenient because the anchors and screws stay paired and the correct drill size is stated on the packaging.

Confirm the anchor suits the base material and the load. For anything beyond light duty, select a metal anchor rated for the application.
