CLC Glove Generl Utility 160X

The CLC 160X is an extra large general utility work glove for trade applications.

Glove care and replacement are worth a moment's attention, since gloves are frequently used well past the point of providing protection.

Inspection before use is the practical control. Cuts, thinning at the palm and fingertips, worn coating, split seams, and hardened or degraded material all reduce protection, and a glove with a cut in it protects nothing at that point.

Contamination is the other reason to retire a glove. Gloves that have absorbed oil, solvent, or cleaning chemicals hold that material against the skin continuously, and the exposure can be greater than working bare handed for a short period.

Washing extends life for some glove types and destroys others. Leather generally does not tolerate washing well and stiffens as it dries. Synthetic and coated gloves often can be washed, and the manufacturer's guidance covers it.

Drying matters where gloves have become wet. Gloves dried at high heat harden and crack, and gloves stored damp develop odour and degrade.

The cost of replacing gloves is trivial against the cost of a hand injury, and gloves being retained too long is usually a matter of habit rather than economy.

Confirm the fit and protection level suit the work, inspect before each use, and replace gloves showing cuts, thinning, or contamination.
