The Best Garden SWPCDBSS58050 is a 5/8 inch diameter x 50 ft heavy-duty soft and supple garden hose.
The 5/8 inch diameter is the specification and it is the one that governs everything a hose does.
Diameter controls flow, and the relationship is not linear — it is roughly the fourth power of the radius, which means small changes in diameter produce large changes in delivery. A 1/2 inch hose delivers dramatically less than a 5/8, and over 50 ft that difference compounds, because every foot of hose is friction.
Which is why 5/8 is the standard for real use and 1/2 inch is for light watering. A sprinkler that will not turn, a pressure washer that starves, or a hose that produces a dribble at the far end is almost always a diameter problem rather than a tap problem.
Length works against it. Every additional foot costs pressure at the nozzle, so a 50 ft hose delivers more than a 100 ft one from the same tap. Buy the length needed, not the longest available.
Soft and supple is the handling specification. A stiff hose kinks, and a kinked hose stops flow entirely and eventually splits at the kink. Suppleness matters more in cold weather, where most hoses stiffen.
